Devils vs Rangers game six Eastern Conference Finals.

I'll be at the game.
Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Devils are looking to put away the demons of 94 with a series closing win tomorrow night. All the hoopla about this being the anniversary of Messier's guarantee really doesn't hold up now as the teams have different players. One of the players that was on the Devils team was of course Brodeur. If the Devils win Broduer's career would kind of come full circle. I'm not sure if this will be his last year but what a way to go out. Riding off to the cup finals and beating the Rangers 18 years later from the heartbreaking loss in the conference finals to the Rangers.

Let's Go Devils!!! Rock the Rock!!!

Knicks clinch playoff birth!

After a rollercoaster of a season the Knicks finally sealed the deal and clinched a playoff spot. It’s been a rough road and very tense at times but they did it. Down the stretch the Knicks have been lights out riding the shoulders of Anthony. Plagued with injuries this year the Knicks have persevered through it all and managed to lock down a playoff spot. Hopefully, they won’t be a one and done like some of the pundits are predicting. Most likely the Knick will square off against the Heat. Some say they would rather the Knicks face off against another foe but they will have to get past the Heat anyway so why not do it in the first round. If the Knicks can get past the Heat then they have a great chance at getting to the finals. Anyway, it looks like New York basketball is making a come back little steps at a time. Maybe next year they can get the division title and have an easier first round match up then the perennial all star team that the Heat have assembled. Anyway, GO KNICKS!

Thing vs Thing

So, I'm a huge fan of Carpenter's Classic The Thing. When I heard about the prequel I was extremely cautious. That's right, cautious. Most of the time when movies get done that spin off of a classic bad things result, excuse the pun. Anyway, after watching the 2011 prequel five or so times here's my review.

The original thing was built on whiskey and tension. The prequel had none of these things. There was a drinking scene in the prequel and I thought the directors would have the lackey grab some whiskey but NO. The supposedly rough and tumble chopper pilot was no McCready but he tried to be. Mary ELizabeth Winstead saved the movie from toiling into an overpriced rip off of a classic.

Saving Grace.

The only redeeming scene in the movie and it almost came across as an after thought was the filling scene. I don't want to spoil it as it's best to be seen without any heads up. Let's just say that scene was the best in the film.

Lack of tension

The movie tried to recreate the tension in the original and at times it succeeded but at times it failed. Overall the tension was predictable and trite. IMO, the film should of done away with the subtitles. That would of created more tension, suspicion and immersion.

CG Effects Fail

One of the calling cards to Carpenter's classic are the pre CG special effects. While choreographed better the CG style was apparent and held a lesser impact. Why doesn't Hollywood just go back to the old style? The old effects bloomed in the 80's so why ruin that? In an intimate horror film as the 2011 film tries to be the CG effects just don't fit.

Overall

Worth a watch if your a fan. This movie won't create a new generation of Thing fans but hardcore fans will appreciate the storyline and Mary Elizabeth Winstead's cute face vs McCready's gruff beard.

Verdict

Two Stars out of five.

New Tire Cover has arrived

I just got my tire cover in that I ordered from amazon. The installation was easy and now my jeep has a bit of personality. I had to choose from a great deal of variety but the Pirate and Parot cover seemed to fit in best out of all of them. The Grimm Reaper was nice but I thought it was too dark of a tone. So here it is.

Kindle Edition for A Breath Before Sunrise now available!

It took a little longer than I expected but the Kindle Edition of A Breath Before Sunrise is now available. The Ebook retails for 3.99 right now. Originally I wanted to sell the book for .99 cents but for the length of the story the 3.99 price point was the natural mark. The price drops over time anyway, so at some point the available price will drop to .99 cents. Most likely...

Here is a picture of the cover.

A Breath Before Sunrise is a horror novella centering around three characters Bear, Bird and Fox. The setting is a post apocalyptic future and the book could be described best as a dystopian future world. An unkown enemy has decimated the Earth through the use of radical genetic war fare and humanity had to retreat to the underbelly of the Earth. Join Bear as he unravels the past mystery of a life we once lived. A Breath Before Sunrise cements the idea that our past memories shape our adult lives.

A Breath Before Sunrise is available at Amazon and other online retailers.

New Jeep

I have been tooling around in a Dodge Neon for a few years and the car started to end up in the shop quite a bit over the last year. So I decided to purchase a new Jeep. I originally thought to purchase a Wrangler but after mulling around the price and mileage I finally settled on a 2005 Jeep Liberty. The Liberty gives me the off road capability of a 4x4 with the comfort of an suv. I had to test out the Jeep with a drive home through a snow storm this afternoon. The Liberty handled great and I'm itching to get into a true 4x4 situation. Here are some pics of my Jeep.

The Jeep only had 41,000 miles on it for a 2005. I managed the snag the vehicle under the Blue Book value. So what a deal.

Photo(s) from Giants Super Bowl Celebration

There is a photo from the New York Giants celebration. Just a few days after the Giants won the suuperbowl a bunch of rabid fans gather to celebrate at a parade and the stadium. It's a rockus affair and there was a sighting of a Fox news helicopter making it's rounds around the mass of humanity.
